The Holy Well stands on the slopes above Malvern Wells, the village that takes its name from the springs. Malvern water was being bottled here as early as 1622. The Malvern Hills National Landscape describes it as the oldest bottling plant in the world, and Holywell spring water is still bottled at the site.
The present well house was built in 1843 and is Grade II listed. In 1850 Schweppes opened a bottling plant at the Holy Well, and it introduced Malvern Soda at the Great Exhibition of 1851. The building was restored in a project completed in 2009.
