How we make money: affiliate and advertising disclosure
How this site is funded, how paid content is labelled, and what money can never change.
How the site is funded
The walks, parking, safety and planning information on this site are free. They are paid for by a small number of clearly labelled commercial relationships:
- Affiliate links to booking sites or shops, which may pay us a commission if you book or buy, at no extra cost to you. They carry
rel="sponsored nofollow"and a note nearby. - Featured partner listings: local businesses that pay to appear in a labelled card near the top of the pages for their part of the hills, in the accommodation finder and in the trip planner.
- Sponsored and Commercial partner slots: one sponsor at a time for an area, a walk category or a planning tool, for a fixed term.
- Walking packs: downloadable PDF and GPX packs that we sell. They are built from the same checked information as the site.
How to tell what’s paid
- “Our picks nearby” and other editorial lists are chosen on merit (usually by distance from a walk). Nobody pays to appear in them, or to change their order.
- Paid placements always carry a label (Featured partner, Sponsored or Commercial partner), sit in their own block, and use
rel="sponsored"links. Links from paid placements include campaign tags so the business can see visits from us. - Paid positions are limited: for example, a maximum of three featured places to stay in Great Malvern, and one featured partner per walk page. They end automatically on their end date.
- A paid placement is not a recommendation. It means the business has paid to be shown to visitors planning a trip nearby.
What money cannot change
Commercial relationships never affect route difficulty, safety information, accessibility information, parking facts, route descriptions or any factual visitor information. A business cannot pay to be added to, moved up, or removed from an editorial list, or to change what we say about it. No business pays to appear in our walking packs.
Our walking packs
The packs organise free site information into printable plans, route cards, maps and GPX files. You never need a pack to walk safely: all safety guidance is free on the site. See the walking packs for exactly what each contains.
Current commercial partners
At the moment we have no active affiliate partners, featured listings or sponsors. When we do, they will be listed here.
