Weekend itinerary

A family weekend on the Malvern Hills

Short walks with a target at the end: a hillfort, a cave, a spring house. Plus easier-access paths and ideas for a wet day.

  • Families with children
  • Grandparents and mixed abilities

Most hill paths are too steep and rough for pushchairs: use a carrier unless a route is an easier-access path (those are marked, with the Malvern Hills Trust’s own descriptions). Pick walks with a clear goal and a café or toilets close by.

Shorter options

Good to know

  • Summit winds can be strong: keep small children close near steep drops and quarry edges.
  • Quarry lakes are deep and cold: never swim in them.
